🚀 Getting started

Welcome — how Traffic Chart works

This page is the product in one sitting: what Traffic Chart is, which plan to open, where your work lives, and what “free” actually means. What it is Traffic Chart is a browser app at app.traffic-chart.com. You draw on a real map, share a live link, and export a PDF when someone needs a file. There is nothing to install. Home after login: Traffic Plan, Event Plan, and recent plans with Home and Plans in the top bar You will spend most of your time in three places: 1. Home — start a new plan, or continue a recent one. 2. Plans — the full library for the workspace you are in. 3. The editor — full-screen map, tools, and sidebar. Those three are easy to mix up. Find your way around is the picture of the top bar. The first time you sign in, First login and onboarding covers Log in, Create your account, and the welcome screens (Creating your account..., Preparing your workspace...). Who it is for Most people here are creating plans: - Event organisers — site layouts, and often the roads that lead there - Contractors and infra teams — temporary traffic measures - Municipalities — drafting plans, and sometimes reviewing submissions If you only review plans for a municipality, skip to Review for organisers or Review for reviewers. The rest of getting started is written for people who draw. Two kinds of plans On Home the heading is What would you like to create? Traffic Plan — public roads: closures, detours, temporary signs, materials lists, post orders for traffic controllers. The sign catalogue follows the Country you set when you create the plan. Wrong country means the wrong signs; you generally start a new plan rather than “switching” a catalogue. Event Plan — the site itself: stages, tents, fencing, zones, walking routes, labels. Event plans do not use the traffic-sign catalogue and do not spend traffic-sign credits. A festival in a park with road closures on the approach is a classic pair: event plan for the field, traffic plan for the public road. Share or submit both according to what your municipality asks for. Where your work lives You always have a Personal workspace. That list is private to you. The library title is My traffic plans / My event plans. If your company or municipality uses Traffic Chart as a team, you may also belong to an organization. That is a separate workspace. Plans there are shared with everyone who has access. The library title is the organization name plus the plan type, for example Acme Events traffic plans. Switch with Switch workspace in the account menu (your initials and first name). Personal uses a P badge. Organizations use orange initials. If a workspace row is greyed out, read the reason on that row: This workspace is not currently available., Your membership is suspended, Organization suspended, Workspace not enabled yet, or Organization unavailable. Public share links can still open; the private workspace cannot until that reason is fixed. Workspace unavailable. Creating a Traffic Plan or Event Plan from Home puts the new plan in whichever workspace you last opened. Check Switch workspace before you start if you meant Personal, or meant the team. On Plans, folders keep the library readable (New folder, Search plans or folders). Folders and the library. You cannot create an organization yourself. An owner invites you. After you accept, you still have to Switch workspace — accepting does not move you automatically. See Join an organization. In an organization, seeing a plan is not the same as editing it. Only the assigned editor can change that plan. Organizations and members. Free use, in one minute Event plans — no traffic-sign credits. Your workspace still needs Event plans turned on. If the Event plans tab says Not enabled for Personal. (or Not enabled for Acme Events.), you cannot create one there. Ask an administrator or email customer@traffic-chart.com. Traffic plans — creating the plan is free. Payment is asked when you place signs past the free allowance, not when you click Start planning. - Outside participating (licensed) municipalities you may place a limited number of signs that count (currently 5). Each plate in a stack counts. - Inside a participating municipality, eligible personal accounts can place unlimited signs without paying for that placement. - You can also spend a credit or pay by card to unlock unlimited signs on that traffic plan. Other unpaid plans keep their own limits. Prices are shown in the app at checkout. They can depend on country and currency. Do not rely on old website copy. Paying for unlimited signs on one plan does not automatically unlock Bulk signs, XL maps, materials Excel, Displace sign stack, or PDF preview. Those are account permissions. Billing, free use, and credits and Feature not available for my account. How people usually work 1. Create an account and verify email. 2. Check you are in the right workspace (Personal or your organization). 3. Start a traffic or event plan with a clear name (and dates / country as asked). 4. Find the location on the map and draw. 5. Wait for Save or Auto-save: saved. 6. Share a Sharable link (recommended for municipalities), or export a PDF if a file is required. 7. If your municipality uses in-app review, they typically start that session. You do not send the first one yourself. Browser and device Traffic Chart is map-heavy and builds PDFs in the browser. - Prefer a current desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. - A laptop or desktop is more comfortable than a phone for drawing and export. - Allow downloads if you export PDFs. - A stable network helps map tiles and export finish cleanly. Older browsers and low-memory machines fail export more often. If a PDF fails, stay on the page and see Export fails or is blank. If the map never appears, see Map will not load or stays blank. Support Email customer@traffic-chart.com. Inside a plan, Help in the sidebar has the same address, Browse the FAQ, and Watch tutorial video. How to? is a short product video (not shown in read-only share view). Home footer: Customer support, FAQ, How-to, Status. Help inside the app and Contact support. What to read next 1. First login and onboarding 2. Set up your account and find help 3. Find your way around 4. Your first plans 5. Folders and the library

Description: Add additional security to your account using two factor authentication. Status headings: - You have not enabled two factor authentication. - Finish enabling two factor authentication. - You have enabled two factor authentication. When 2FA is already on and you display the QR again: Two factor authentication is now enabled. Scan the following QR code using your phone's authenticator application or enter the setup key. Recovery codes (do this immediately) As soon as 2FA is on, the page shows: Store these recovery codes in a secure password manager. They can be used to recover access to your account if your two factor authentication device is lost. Under that is a list of one-time codes. Copy them before you close Settings. Store them offline as well as in the password manager. Each code works once. Later: - Show Recovery Codes — password confirm, then the list again (when the list is hidden). - Regenerate Recovery Codes — password confirm, then a new list. Old codes stop working the moment new ones appear. Update the password manager in the same sitting. If you lose the phone and the codes, support cannot read the old codes back. You will be locked out. Disable Disable (danger button) with password confirm. Status returns to You have not enabled two factor authentication. Tour of the traffic plan editor

This page names the chrome around a traffic plan map so you can find the next control. It is not Home. Home is Welcome back; this is the editor that opens after Start planning or Open. Full search, zoom, and Scale:: Search address, zoom, and scale. Read-only You can pan and zoom but not change the plan when: - You opened a Sharable link / Copy link URL and you are not the editor. - You are an organization member who is not the assigned editor. - The header shows review lock or Plan approved. PDF preview and sketch tools hide in read-only. Owners and administrators still use Assign editor on Plans if the wrong person has the pen. Practical rhythm 1. Set title and dates. 2. Search address, then zoom in. 3. Place signs and sketches. 4. Wait for Auto-save: saved (or Save). 5. Export → Sharable link, or Export files if a PDF is required. What good looks like You recognise the header, left tools, and Signs panel without hunting. The workspace and assigned editor match who should draw. The map is centred on the works. 🛣️ Traffic plans

Create, organise, and share traffic plans

This page is the traffic plan as a document: create it in the right workspace, keep it findable, save it, and share a live link. Drawing and PDF files have their own articles. Use this when you need a new plan, a folder, a share URL, or a team owner. Skip it if you already have the map open and only need signs, layers, or export. Home, Plans, and the editor Home is / after login (Welcome back, your name). It is not the map. Choose Traffic Plan or Event Plan, or Continue with a previous plan. See all plans opens the library. Plans is the library for the current workspace. The editor is the full-screen map after Start planning or Open. The logo from the editor returns to Plans, not Home. Event plans have their own tab. A “missing” traffic plan is often the wrong tab or the wrong workspace — My plan does not appear in the list. Personal or organization You always have Personal. An organization is a separate team workspace. Check Switch workspace (account menu) before you create anything. New plans from Home go to the workspace you last opened. | | Personal | Organization | |---|--------------|----------------| | Library title | My traffic plans | Acme Events traffic plans (organization name + traffic plans) | | Who can open | You | Everyone with access to that workspace | | Who can change the plan | You | Only the assigned editor | Creating a plan in an organization makes you the assigned editor. Other members open it read-only until an Owner or Administrator uses Assign editor. Team rules: Organizations and members. If Switch workspace greys out a row, read This workspace is not currently available. (or Workspace not enabled yet, Organization unavailable). Workspace unavailable. Create a traffic plan Open the create-plan form from Home 1. Confirm Switch workspace shows Personal or the organization you meant. 2. On Home, choose Traffic Plan. From Plans, Create plan starts the same form. 3. Set Country (required — this loads the sign catalogue). 4. Enter Plan name (placeholder My Traffic Plan). 5. Set Start * and End *. Each side is Select date plus hh:mm. Start must be before end. 6. Click Start planning. The editor opens on the map. Rename later with the pencil next to the title (Edit project title). Dates stay in the header as Start and End, each with a date and hh:mm. Country loads the sign catalogue. Dates appear on exports, and MELVIN stays disabled until it has them (Fill in a date to use this option). Older plans may show Continue your traffic plan and ask you to finish Country, Plan name, and Duration first (Continue planning). Validation: Select a country., Enter a plan name., Select a start date., Enter a start time., Start date must be before end date, Complete the start date with a time. If create fails: Failed to create project. Please try again. / Could not create project. Success: Project created! Find and organise on Plans Plans library with search, New folder, Create plan, and the plans table Plans lists Name, Status, Updated, Plan period, and Actions. Search with Search plans or folders. Open a plan, or click its name row. Paid on a row means this plan is unlocked for unlimited signs. In an organization, Editor: Sam Rivera (the assigned editor’s name) shows who can change that plan. The ⋮ menu on a plan includes Open, Copy link, Move to folder, Duplicate, Delete, Move to organization (from Personal), and Assign editor (organization Owners and Administrators). Rename on the ⋮ menu is for folders, not plans. Rename a plan from the editor title. Empty list: No items found. Folders, search, breadcrumbs, and every library action: Folders and the library. Folders New folder opens Create folder. Enter Folder name, pick Location, then Save. Toast: Folder created. On a plan, Move to folder and pick a Destination (or No folder). On a folder you can Rename, Move folder, or Delete — delete only works when the folder is empty (Delete this folder? Make sure it is empty first. / Cannot delete folder while it still contains items.). Personal libraries use Folders; organization libraries use Shared folders. Go up one level returns to the parent. How the library works in full: Folders and the library. Move or copy into an organization From Personal, the plan menu Move to organization asks How should it go? Move (Recommended) leaves Personal; the public link stays the same. Copy keeps the plan in Personal and gives the organization a separate plan with a new public link. You cannot move a plan that is in municipality review (Under review — move unavailable); Copy is still allowed. You cannot move an organization plan back to Personal, or from one organization to another. The dialog, folder-move summary, and every toast: Move, copy, and assign editor. Assign an editor On an organization plan, Owners and Administrators open Assign editor. Choose Assigned editor (Choose an editor), then Save assignment. Everyone with workspace access can Open the plan. Only that assigned editor can change, duplicate, or delete it. Other members get Plan is read-only. If the assigned editor is suspended, nobody can edit until someone reassigns the plan. Full dialog and membership-inactive cases: Move, copy, and assign editor. Save In the editor: Auto-save and Save. The auto-save preference is stored on your account. Hover the switch for Auto-save: saving, Auto-save: unsaved changes, or Auto-save: saved. With auto-save on, Save is disabled (auto-save is enabled). Save is blocked for Plan is locked while under review, This plan is locked because it has been approved, or Plan is read-only. Wait for saved before you send a link or start a PDF. Title, dates, and every save toast: Auto-save, title, and dates. Share a live link Each traffic plan has a public address such as https://app.traffic-chart.com/traffic-plans plus the plan’s id. Anyone with that URL can view the map read-only. They do not need an account. 1. On Plans, Copy link. 2. Or in the editor click Export, then copy Sharable link (RECOMMENDED). 3. Send it to a colleague, municipality, or contractor. Sharable link stays up to date after you save. Many municipalities prefer that over a file. Use Export files only when someone asks for PDF or Excel — Export and print traffic plans. Treat the URL like a document you would email. Do not post it on public social media. If a link spread too widely, email customer@traffic-chart.com. Viewers can pan and zoom. Billing, free use, and credits

Traffic Chart is free to try. Event plans are not billed. Traffic plans start on a free tier; when you need more capacity you unlock that plan with a credit or a card payment — or you draw inside a participating municipality. Prices always appear in the app at checkout. They can depend on country and currency. This page does not list amounts. The payment dialog (every branch, Payment status, guests): Pay or spend a credit. The organization Billing page (packages, GmbH vs B.V., portal): Organization billing. What is free Creating a traffic plan is free. Payment is asked when you place signs past the free allowance, not when you click Start planning. Event plans do not use credits. They can still be turned off for a workspace. The Event plans tab then reads Not enabled for Personal. (or Not enabled for Acme Events.). Workspace unavailable. Unpaid free-tier traffic plan in the editor (map loaded; no Paid badge) A public share link is view-only. Viewers are not asked to pay. Participating municipalities Some municipalities license Traffic Chart so organisers can draw freely there. - Placement looks up the municipality under the pin. - If the area is participating, eligible personal accounts can place unlimited signs there without paying for that placement. - If not, the free sign limit applies until the plan is unlocked. When the area is not participating, the paywall title uses the municipality under the pin, for example Utrecht is not yet participating. You may see Ask Utrecht to participate (a draft message to that municipality). Traffic Chart cannot force Utrecht to join. On organization workspaces that prompt is Cancel instead — org billing is separate. Acme Events does not unlock signs by emailing Utrecht from this dialog. Free sign limit (the 5-sign rule) Outside participating areas, unpaid traffic plans allow a limited number of signs that count toward the cap. That number is currently 5. Count every plate. A stack of three plates is three toward the five, not one pin. Bulk signs can use the whole allowance in one line. The sixth counting sign is when the payment dialog appears. Until then, keep drawing. Organization credit-pool workspaces often have no personal-style free allowance: you Spend credit (or you already have Unlimited sign placement on a subscription) before extra signs stay on the plan. Duplicating a paid plan starts a new unpaid plan. Demo traffic plan with a Paid badge, duplicated, is a new plan that must be unlocked again. Unlocking a traffic plan (Paid vs organization funding) Paying or spending a credit sets this traffic plan to unlimited signs. Other unpaid plans keep their own limits. A credit unlocks one traffic plan, not every plan on the account. Personal / legacy: the Paid badge In the personal and older flows you will see a Paid badge on that plan on Home and Plans. That badge means Demo traffic plan has unlimited signs. It is not a Pro licence. It is not organization membership. Home with Paid and Free badges on continue-plan cards Native organization funding: often no Paid badge On Acme Events, native organization billing does not always show the old Paid badge. The plan can still be funded from the organization account. The test is whether the next sign stays on the map, not whether the pill appeared. Do not start a second payment because the badge is missing. Personal workspace When placement is blocked you see the payment dialog. Full walkthrough: Pay or spend a credit. In short: 1. If you have credits — Spend credit. The plan is saved and unlocked. Toast Credit spent. 2. If you have none — Select a country, then Billing postal / ZIP code, then Checkout / Pay now (or Log in & Pay / Register & Pay if you were a guest). 3. Complete Stripe. Payment status confirms the credit and unlocks the plan. Personal credits also appear under Settings → Credits, except for some organisation-role accounts that hide that block on purpose. Organization workspace Credits shown in the dialog are the workspace pool, not your personal Settings → Credits. - If the pool has credits and you can edit the plan: Spend 1 credit to create new plan? / Spend credit. - If billing is not set up: Billing is not configured for this organization. Ask an organization administrator or Traffic Chart support to configure it. - If you cannot purchase: Only an organization owner, administrator, or billing account holder can purchase credits. Ask them to add credits to this workspace. Owners and admins who are not the assigned editor cannot start checkout on a colleague’s Demo traffic plan. Reassign the editor first, or buy from a plan you can edit. Buying a package for Acme Events is not this map dialog. When the organization shows Billing, owners use Choose a package and Continue to checkout (hosted Stripe). Members never see that page. Organization billing. If you do not see Billing, credits may still be handled the older way by Traffic Chart for your team. There is nothing to “turn on” from Settings. After you pay | Screen | Meaning | What to do | |--------|---------|------------| | Confirming your payment | Payment succeeded; unlock is applying | Wait; keep the tab open | | Payment successful | Plan ready | Open traffic plan | | Payment received, confirmation pending | Safe; confirmation is slow | Wait; do not pay again; Check again | | Payment failed | No credit used | Return to the plan and retry | | Plan unavailable | Plan missing; credit may remain | Check Credits / org Billing; contact support | | Could not apply automatically | Payment OK, unlock failed | Contact support before paying again | See Payment status after checkout, Payment succeeded but plan not unlocked, and the outcome-by-outcome table in Pay or spend a credit. Paying does not unlock every tool Unlimited signs on one plan is not the same as organization/PRO tools: - Bulk signs - Displace sign stack - XL export maps - Materials Excel - PDF preview Those show Pro feature (or similar) when your account cannot use them. Feature not available for my account. Practical tips - Prefer one browser tab for checkout. - Never start a second payment while the first is still processing. - Switch workspace before you pay. A Personal payment does not fund Acme Events traffic plans. - For sign limits while drawing, see I can’t place more signs.
